Honduran Fishermen Arrested in Jamaica

FIFTY Honduran fishermen who were fishing illegally in Jamaica’s coastal waters are now being processed by the local police in Port Royal after they were fished out of the sea by the Jamaica Defense Force Coast Guard this morning.

A spokesman from the JDF said on the approach of the Coast Guard, the Honduran vessel sped off leaving the men.

They are to be transported to the Central Police Station in Kingston when processing is completed.

The name of the fishing boat could not be immediately ascertained.

Increased vigilance by the Coast Guard and Marine Police has led to the interception of several boats fishing here illegally in recent times.
