According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (Secretaría de Industria y Comercio – SIC), Honduras gas prices are on the rise. A study concluded yesterday, based on petroleum products in the international market, projected that all petroleum products will maintain an upward trend.
Premium petrol will increase in price by .34 centavos per liter, regular by .30 centavos per liter, kerosene will reflect a .25 centavos per liter cent rise, and diesel by .12 centavos a liter.
Household gas will see an increase of .21 centavos per gallon and gasoline prices for vehicles is expected to rise .18 centavos per gallon.
The decisive factors for setting fuel prices in Honduras include the price per barrel of oil in the United States (more than 94 US Dollars at the current market rate), and the uncertainty of fiscal policies still to be set in the U.S., such as spending cuts that might affect taxes. Other international influences, such as the cut in production of petrol in Saudi Arabia, are additional points of consideration.
