Honduras Traffic Cops Surprised with Drug Tests

Honduras Traffic Cops Surprised with Drug TestThe deputy director of the DIECP, Mario Chinchilla, led an operation to drug test about 225 members of the Honduras Transit Police today.

“Within the framework of the law of confidence, we began testing this year, and this time it’s the turn of the Traffic Division,” Chinchilla said.

The official said the DIECP (La Dirección de Investigación y Evaluación de la Carrera Policial) toxicology tests are given by surprise, with the unannounced arrival of medical personnel. Chinchilla said that the tests are being given to the administrative staff, basic, and even senior level personnel.

These are the first assessments of the year, and the DIECP expects to close 2013 with about 10,000 evaluations of different varieties, including psychology testing.

Mr. Chinchilla stated that the results of the 225 tests will be ready in about 35 days.
