Zelaya’s Letter to Obama – Rough English Translation

PRESIDENCY OF THE REPUBLIC Determined Zelaya
From the Desk of
Mr President

Tegucigalpa, November 14, 2009

S. E.
BARACK OBAMA
U.S. PRESIDENT
Washington D. C.

Dear President Obama:

When we met for the first time on July 8 with the Secretary of State
Clinton after the coup was left clear to me and to the world the
Obama administration’s position of condemning the coup,
unaware of their authorities and demand the return of the rule of law with the
refund for President elected by the people. The official position of his
government and their representatives who sponsored and signed resolutions
UN, OAS. In the third point that requires my immediate and safe return.

As of June 28, 2009 my abduction by the military and exile
Costa Rica. The Congress of the Republic issued a decree ordering illegal where
“Separating the citizen José Manuel Zelaya of the office of President
Constitution of the Republic “no constitutional powers to do so, and
without due process without being summoned to a trial.

Since the first meeting with Secretary Hillary Clinton I proposed the
mediation of President Oscar Arias of Costa Rica even though I consider
it is counterproductive to dialogue with people who have a gun in their
hands, accept U.S. recital sponsored and community
internationally.

In a statement dated 04 September this year the Secretary of
State Hillary Clinton expressed the following: “The successful conclusion of
process initiated by Arias would be the basis for proceeding with a
legitimate choice ”

It is well known that the de facto regime without a visit to Honduras by sub.
Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Thomas Shannon, Daniel

Restrepo and Craig Kelly had not signed the Agreement. We all know that
broke the agreement, Tegucigalpa – San José.

President Oscar Arias himself for the sake of truth declare that “Micheletti
never had that will to cooperate and instead was making fun
international community and sought only to delay the time to never
deliver power where it belongs. “

Former President Ricardo Lagos, a prominent member of the Commission
International Verification statements confirm this by stating:
“The Lord Micheletti broke”, “Micheletti did things he should not have
made as to say I’ll form a unity government without Zelaya “what
caused the failure of this negotiated agreement.

The very day it was installed in Tegucigalpa, the Credentials Committee, the
agreement struck by the statements of officials of the Department of
State in which change their position and interpret the agreement unilaterally
with the following statements “… the elections would be recognized by
United States with or without a refund … “The de facto regime welcome this
change and used these statements to their objectives, and immediately
terminated for violating and violating the agreement

Because of that we express as follows

That the Agreement Tegucigalpa-San Jose is without value or effect on
unilateral breach of the de facto government. This was conceived
to be implemented comprehensively and simultaneously, as no
looked like twelve separate agreements, one agreement was with
twelve points which had a single purpose, to restore order
democracy and social peace, and this would reverse the coup,
which means the safe return of elected President of Republic
legitimately by popular vote. And so, foster a climate of
national reconciliation and a subsequent constitutional electoral process,
clean, with guaranteed free and equal participation for all
Citizens of Honduras.

* That the next election will be developed within a framework of
legality and international support especially from the OAS and UN
and that outside these political and citizenship rights
minimum to ensure an outcome attached to liberty and
transparency. In this, I note that the new staff position
United States Government’s initial target elusive dialogue
San Jose, relegating an agreement with the government legitimately
recognized into the background and trying to move this agreement
to a new electoral process regardless of the conditions under which
develop. Among others, public resources are being authorized
by public officials not legally recognized and charged to a
Budget document has not been authorized by President
legitimately recognized.

Under these conditions, this process, and therefore their results will
not subject to challenge and recognition, which seriously jeopardizes
the future stability of relations between Honduras and the rest of
nations to recognize its results.

As noted by the OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza, not
There is a political environment for elections, as has been observed and pointed
U.S. Congresswoman Jane Sharkorky during his visit to Honduras,
observes an environment proven violation of human rights
Honduras.

On 6 November, we reported our refusal to continue with
false dialogue, and so the expiry is check point
dead that is losing relevance, because an agreement is met in a timely manner,
violation of this by the de facto regime is for us the condition
determines that the agreement ceased to exist.

Undoubtedly precious time was lost in this attempt.

The presidential election is currently scheduled for the last week of
November. In this case, as Constitutional President of Honduras, as
representing citizen and was elected by democratic vote of the people of
Honduras, I feel obliged to report that under these conditions
We can support and to challenge legally on behalf of
Thousands of Hondurans and hundreds of candidates who feel that this
competition is uneven and there are no conditions for participation in
freedom.

* In Honduras for the repression that people today are subjected
Honduras, where it is observed or the highest authority of the President
Republic, which has not been considered in three years I managed the
better economic indicators and the largest poverty reduction
of the 28 years of democracy, which was overthrown by force
weapons, was never subjected to a trial or due process and I
today, 24 indictments and arrest warrants for drug trafficking and corruption
terrorism among others, and where most of the ministers of my
cabinet are subjected to political persecution and are fleeing the
regime in different parts of America.

* 3,500 people detained in one hundred days, over 600 people injured and
beaten in hospitals, more than a hundred murders and a
Countless numbers of people subjected to torture committed against
citizens who dare to challenge and express their ideas,
freedom and justice, peaceful demonstrations, all this makes the
November elections in an undemocratic exercise of state
illegitimacy, by uncertainty and military intimidation, for large
sectors of our people.

* Carry out elections, in which the President elected by the people of
Honduras, who recognized his government and the international community,
is a prisoner, surrounded by soldiers in the embassy of Brazil, and
a president of Facto, who imposed the military, surrounded by the
powerful in the government palace, will be a historical embarrassment to
Honduras and a disgrace to the democratic people of America.

* This election is illegal because it hides the coup
military and de facto state in Honduras living provides no guarantees
equality and freedom in civic participation at all Hondurans,
is an undemocratic electoral maneuver repudiated by major
sections of the people to cover up the perpetrators and masterminds
the coup d’etat.

* Elections are a process not just a day where you choose, it is
discussion, is exposition of ideas is equal opportunity.

* In my capacity as President elected by the Honduran people, I reaffirm
my decision after that date, whatever the case,
I do not accept, any agreement to return to the presidency, to
disguising the coup, we know to have a direct impact
by military repression on human rights of the inhabitants of
our country.

Mr. President.

At the Summit of the Americas Countries held in Trinidad and
Tobago earlier this year, where I present you said

“What we fail to denounce America for what he did in the past
on the continent and we saw toward the future. ” The future before us
shown to alter its position in the case of Honduras and so encourage
improper intervention of the military caste in the civic life of our State,
(historical cause of the backwardness and stagnation of our countries in the twentieth century)
It is but the twilight of freedom and an insult to human dignity, is
a new war against the processes of social and democratic reforms as
necessary in Honduras.

President Obama.

Whenever you overthrow a legitimately elected Government in America
violence and terrorism, we win a battle and Democracy suffers a defeat.

We still refuse to believe that the military coup underway in
Honduras is now the new, state terrorism of the twenty-first century. And will the future
Latin America we speak in Trinidad and Tobago

We are firmly determined to fight for our democracy without obscuring the truth
and when people decide to fight peacefully for their ideas, no
weapon, no army can stop or maneuver.

I await your prompt response, I reiterate my highest consideration,

José Manuel Zelaya Rosales
President of Honduras

We should simply start hunting his henchmen down, it must not be very hard to find them, if they keep on being violent, the Honduran people should get violent on them too, not because of a feeling of revenge nor one of anger, but to protect the country and its people from open and violent attacks.

Zelaya thought (again wrongly) that he may have had support for him to get back in the presidency, somehow he is showing the same lack of understanding that most communist do in regards of people wanting them as rulers.

If you were to be aware of how they are getting into power latelly it is all done with mirrors and smoke screens, lying to the people and tricking them into voting for conditions that they have no notion about.

don’t know why the government does not order an international warrant for his arrest they did it with one of his ministers and he turned himself in before they arrested him . …but when mel gets arrested he will make it much more dramatic ,i think he will escape to venezuela right after the election . and with an arrest warrant that will make his travel very limited….his name will change to ….mel who ….

I believe that any communications Zelaya tries to have with the USA should be with Llorens, since it is that shameless lier the only one that agrees with him now.

It would be great if Llorens could be put to trial for inciting all this mess in Honduras, for even if the President of the United States and his shotgun rider, Hillary Clinton are as inclined to a left/socialist stance, thay are also political savy and would not have allowed their underware to hang in the breeze, their ignorance of international political matters expossed for all of te world to see; I believe, very firmly that if it had not been for Llorens trying to protect his friend Mel Zelaya, Honduras would not have been attacked as cruelly as it was, there may have been some rethoric from the Leftist side of the current American Administration, but not something as radical as what hapenned, with all the aid and support cuts that so much hurt our country, and lets not forget all of the public opinion that went against us, eventually forcing the hand of the international community, which led to their turning their back on us, unfairly and undeservedly, but a normal knee jerk reaction to such and action by the United States.

So Zelaya, what I am trying to tell you is to stop being such an IDIOT, those in Washinton who ignored how much their as..s were expossed by trusting and believing their Ambassador in Honduras are really angry right now, this bad reaction to the careless actions of Llorens has put their political future in jeopardy, because you just may ignore this, but not all of the American media machine is leftist, and there will definitely be questions as to why they attacked Honduras so hard, and they wont be able to blame Llorens, since they should have verified all of his information before thay acted.

So, Mel, aqui, pa ti, no hay mas pastel, just shut up and leave Honduras be, how can you call for people to go and kill their Honduran brothers on your behalf, when you are nothing but a coward, calling for violence from the safety that being the walls of the Brazilian Embassy grant you.

You should try to explain how much of a coward you are, that after beating your wife up so badly that she had to be interned in a Hospital, the Military one at that, and now you have the gull to have your media machine trying to make it look that she was lucky to escape a kidnapping (by whom?) where she got hurt.

You have no shame, and you have no right to try and be our president, get out from that embassy and face the music, coward.

If this is what Zelaya consideres peaceful demonstrations I would hate to see them get violent. Burning a taxi, a bus and a restaurant that I am aware of and the latest “peaceful” protests using granades. He wants to insite violence and tell his supporters to take to the streets and when it does get violent and the police defuse the situation he wants to blame the current administration.

    What a cry baby!!!!

The Bible states…” it is better to keep your mouth closed, rather than to open it an let all know you are a fool” z’liar should take not of this truth!!!

he is getting desperate, because he knows when the free elections occur, it is over.

Stay STRONG Honduras, only 14 days until the elections of the free people of Honduras.
