World Bank in Honduras Says We’re Entering a New Economic Phase

“We saw that after the crisis of 2008 and 2009 , were important moments for growth because there was an international situation, like it was with the price of coffee and other materials,” he said.

Zamplaglione’s opinion is that Honduras is entering a new economic phase, in which we see that some of the advantages that the country had lost its own dynamics.

He said that the WB advises the government of President Lobo and the Ministry of Finance on issues related to income and expenses.  “Our interest is to achieve a framework for stronger fiscal management and sustainable development. Moreover, we are analyzing how to support Honduras in the topic of economic growth, increase exports and employment growth. Themes like real economy is necessary for the present and the next government,” said Zampaglione.

The Monetary Program of the Honduras Central Bank (BCH – Banco Central de Honduras) projects that the Honduran economy will increase 3.5% in 2013, and inflation will drop below the double digits.
