Orlando reportedly had a meeting with Zelaya last week. Mauricio Oliva, was a participant in this meeting as well and one of the sources that confirmed that it occurred. Oliva added that he regularly meets with Zelaya and the other party leaders to know how they feel about situations impacting the country. Zelaya reported that he went into the meeting wanting to reach some agreements with Orlando, but reported that he wasn’t able to accomplish this goal, when he spoke to TN5, a news program. Some of the topics of discussion included: electoral reform, security reform, justice reform, and expanding protection for victims of persecution.

It seems that the environment might have been a bit hostile as well, because Marvin Ponce one of the leaders of the National Congress alleges that Zelaya is part of a conspiracy, along with Jorge Aviles (the president of the Supreme Court) to block the election of new supreme court justices. This supposed conspiracy also includes two contemporary judges who do not want to give up their seats.
This latest development is becoming public knowledge in the wake of a decision by multiple sources to remove 16 individuals who were working to become the next members of the Supreme Court due to connections to crime and corruption throughout Honduras.
