Candidates Meet with Hillary

The Secretary of State of the United States, Hillary Clinton, met yesterday with the Honduran presidential candidates, the liberal party candidate, Elvin Santos and the national party candidate, Porfirio (Pepe) Lobo Sosa, within the framework of he General Assembly of the Organization of American Estados (OAS).

Both politicians traveled to San Pedro Sula to meet with Ms. Clinton at the air base “Armando Escalon” before she left the country.

Hillary Clinton met separately with each one of the candidates for 20 minutes, during which time they each explained their ideas for the country, in anticipation of the upcoming general elections on November 29th of this year.

According to Pepe Lobo’s spokesmen, Pepe informed her of his intention to establish a bond of ten thousand lempiras per year for families of limited resources, as well as to invest in projects for the land, and increase security.

Elvin Santos, however, pleaded for Honduran immigration rights to the United States, and presented an ambitious program for the regeneration of renewable energy use and education.

After the interview with the Secretary of State of the United States, the candidates returned to Tegucigalpa.
