Cell Profits Up Due to Honduras Investment

Millicom International Cellular SA on Tuesday reported a higher profit for the first quarter, reflecting a rise in revenue, other operating income and operating profit. The last year’s figures are restated for the full consolidation of Honduras.

Net profit for the period rose to $230.14 million from $155.53 million year ago. Earnings per share also grew to $2.17 from $1.43 prior year.

Normalized earnings per share amounted to $1.91 compared to normalized earnings of $1.43 per share year ago.

Normalized earnings per share excludes one-off events in 2010 and 2011 mainly the disposal of Laos operation.

Revenues increased to $1.08 billion from $953.75 million last year.
