CONCACAF Continues

In the games this Saturday, the United States will play Honduras at Soldier Field in Chicago. Over 40,000 tickets have been sold, the majority to Honduran fans. Also on Saturday, El Salvador will play Mexico, and Trinidad and Tobago against Costa Rica.

Wednesday we’ll see Honduras matched up with El Salvador and Mexico playing against Trinidad and Tobago.

In yesterday’s game, Costa Rica overpowered the United States 3-1 in San Jose, scoring early on and running circles around the US throughout the game.

“We consider us probably the fastest, strongest team in the region, but today we got out-passed, outplayed and out-competed in every sense,” Tim Howard, the goalie for the United States stated. “We were below average across the board.”

Costa Rica leads the CONCACAF group with nine points, the United States has seven, and Honduras follows with four points, and Mexico has three. El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago each ended up with two points. The top three have qualified for the World Cup finals. The fourth-place team meets the fifth-place team from South America in a playoff for another chance at victory.
