DeMint is Assured US Will Recognize Elections

Sen. Jim DeMint released his holds on two U.S. State Department nominees Thursday in the wake of the agreement reached last week between the Honduran interim government and ousted President Manuel Zelaya.

DeMint, one of the administration’s biggest critics on its handling of the political crisis in the Central American nation, said he released his holds because he received assurances from the administration that the United States will recognize elections to be held later this month in Honduras even if Zelaya is not returned to power….Read The Hill Article.

I hope this has been an awakening to how ignorant the US and the world can be about Latin America. Of course we still have to be cautious, but let us look ahead to the elections. We cannot expect the ALBA to accept the elections, but so what? This was a big blow to Chavez and to all the ALBA nations. Who needs them? Thank you: Micheletti, Honduras government, Honduran people, congressman DeMint and the other congressmen like Ileana Ross Letinen and members of the press that helped turn things around so that justice, democracy and freedom could prevail. God Bless Honduras!

Maria…. do not be fooled, we do not have any “official” report from the obama administration.

They are slicker than snott on water, so wait until a named “official” goes on the record with real authority!!!

assurances from who in the administration…. the janitor??

We the people of Hondruas want it in writing that little obama will finally stand behind the will of the Honduran people!!!

NOT some unnamed source, that may or may not be true….. once again it sounds to me like the obama administration will say one thing, and then do something else.

Honduras…. do NOT trust the U.S. administration unless someone “named” goes on the record, and has some real authority in the U.S. administration.
