Drug Traffickers Busted in Honduras

500 kilos of cocaine was found in a dump truck driving in Choloma that had avoided police checkpoints. There were five suspects inside, all armed with pistols. The police arrested the five men and seized the cocaine, according to Deputy Security Minister Armando Calidonio. Officers also found two M-16 assault rifles in the dump truck, Calidonio said.

A small plane had landed and dropped a load of cocaine on Sunday near Choloma, he added. Investigators suspect that the plane came from South America, but investigators were trying to determine exactly where the plane came from, and why it landed near Choloma.

Three other vehicles were seized in the operation, the Deputy Security Minister said, and confirmed that the anti-drug operation was a joint effort by the National Police, prosecutors and the Air Force.
