El Progreso Train Museum to be Completed in June

“We are so happy, the dream of having a railway museum is almost a reality” says Harry Mackala, president of the committee for construction of the work, which should be complete within the month  of June.

This project will allow the municipal authorities and its committee  to protect the National Railroad historical pieces.  The El Progreso train museum is the first and only such museum in Honduras.

The museum is being funded by the World Bank and City Hall at a cost of over 10 million Lempiras.

“The goal is to finish the work the second half of June, and everything is going well; the trains, engines and other parts have already been painted” said Santiago Lopez Sorto, the project manager.
