Finance Ministry to Improve Standards

After 26 years in local government, including 15 as Columbia’s finance director, Lori Fleming is resigning to become an adviser to the Honduran Finance Ministry.

Fleming, 51, will take a position with the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Technical Assistance. During her three-year assignment, Fleming will help the Honduran Finance Ministry implement international public sector accounting standards.

Those standards, she said, are an important tool for developing countries to show that they are properly handling international loans and aid. She said she saw the job advertised in a trade publication and it intrigued her.

Fleming said she does not speak Spanish but intends to learn quickly.

It is a good sign that somebody has realised the need to teach our corrupt leaders the facts of life.
“If you keep on robbing the bank, eventually it will run out of money”

You need to put some money back in it and let it grow, otherwise, the country simply deteriorates into deeper poverty and missery.
