Honduran Congress Board Meets Today

Honduran congressional leaders are meeting to discuss whether to convene a special meeting to discuss the return of ousted former president Manuel Zelaya.

The possibility of the return to power of the ousted leader is one of the points of the deal struck last week between negotiators for Zelaya and the interim government. The meeting of the Board of Congress seeks to analyze the pact, and establish mechanisms to implement its points.

The meeting of leaders of the 128-member Congress, convened at 9:30 am.

Lagos said he believes the way out of the crisis is to restore the former president Zelaya for the limited time left in office. But he admitted that Congress may take its time: “I do not think (the vote) will be today (Tuesday). The ideal, for me, would be for them to do so now.”

Zelaya has said that if he is not restored to power by Thursday, the international community will maintain its stance not to recognize the elections, and will maintain the financial and diplomatic isolation that it began.

“The deputies have said they will listen to opinions from the prosecutor, Attorney General, and the Supreme Court, and, from these opinions, will have a vote in the interests of Honduras,” said Liberal lawmaker Marlon Lara, Micheletti supporter, upon his arrival in Tegucigalpa to attend the meeting.

I agree with madrid, the Armed & Police Forces of Honduras have done an exceptional job.

We are Latinos, so we know what a ‘Hot Temper’ we have, and our soldiers are no exception to that rule, so for them to have behaved as well as they did is to be celebrated and honored, yes, honored, for if they had not followed their orders and kept their cool, they would have fallen into Chavez’s and Zelaya’s trap by killing their own brothers and sisters, that event would have triggered their desired blood bath, so they could show the world “what kind of savages” our government controlled forces could be.

Well, it did not happen, our Armed & Police forces behaved in a way that should make any Honduran proud, their deserve our thanks and recognition.

As for Zelaya to keep on making threats and demmands is just plain stupid.

He just keeps on, either breaking the law, or asking people to ignore the rule of law.

If he was so concerned with staying in power only until the end of his term, he would not have made an attempt at changing the constitution, and it was that action that actually got him ousted.
For him to ask other people to behave as if that does not matter and still respect his supossed right to the position he earlier shunned with his behaviour and actions is typical of that type of narcisist “Dictator Wannabes”.
They are so full of themselves that they do not stop to think of how people actually see them.

Honduras has rejected Mel Zelaya openly and by great numbers, the marches seen in the recent past show it all.

Peaceful people showing their rejection of him, so different from the hooligans that went out onto the streets and started destrying everything in their path, showing their agreement with that monster Zelaya, not only in thought but by action also, since both of them only seeked to do harm to our beautiful Honduras.

So, members of Congress, do not forget that your job is to represent and carry the will of the people you represent, and the majority has spoken clearly.

Yes, it is true that Honduras needs better social standards of living, but we do not need Socialism in order to achieve them.

Congress, just say no to Zelaya, you will be saving our country.
