Schools in Lempira Improve

The National Identity Fair is held every year in the historic town of Gracias, Lempira.

The head of Congress, Juan Orlando Hernández, and his wife Ana Garcia, attended the event, and took the opportunity to open the House of Childhood and Youth, “José Edgardo Cruz Nolasco” in the municipality of Lepaera in the Department of Lempira.

The house was built with support from the legislature, the National Youth Institute, City Hall, and the Spanish Co-op, along with the citizens of the area, who have contributed more than 2 million lempiras to make this project a reality.

The couple announced that additionally, two digital classrooms are to be built in the area, which will be used to teach young Hondurans how to work with the technological advancements made in recent years. Students there will receive mini laptops with an internet connection, furniture (like office chair, desks, etc), printers, and educational programs. At least 100 students will now have modern tools to meet the challenges of this globalized world.

Additionally, a Multiple Training Center was built with an investment of 11 million Lempiras for young people to be trained in different areas of expertise. Over 500 young Hondurans are expected to benefit.

“I am very happy to be fulfilling this promise we made to these villages to modernize the schools,” the Congressman stated.
