Just a few months ago, Jerez served as member of the Executive Directorate Committee of Revenue for the Honduras DEI, which was dissolved after Lopez came on board as an advisor.

After the unexpected retirement of Lopez, Jerez took up his current position upon the order of President Porfirio Lobo. Marcia Lopez played those responsibilities on an interim basis.

Jerez, who will continue to perform the other position he holds, for the National Banking and Insurance (CNBS), said his priority will be to meet the collection targets, of which there are currently recorded a deficit of some 3 billion Lempiras.

Roberto Jerez assured that he never broke away completely from the DEI, he acted as advisor to Mario Lopez, who recently  experienced a relapse in his health.
