The first beneficiaries are the sons and daughters of members of the Association of Shiny Shoes Honduras [Lustrabotas de Honduras](ASOLUSH).

Lenca Hall was the setting of the First Lady, who through this program, delivered shoes, bags and complete school uniforms, from shirts and pants to skirts, shirts and socks, as well as other school supplies, to positively help out the country’s neediest families.

The First Lady said that this act filled her with great satisfaction, especially to think of the children with a program to clothe the children of Honduras. “I am happy that I have had the opportunity to inaugurate this program with you, and to give an important service to the people,” she said.

She added that through this program, they seek to provide an opportunity for children to have a pair of shoes, so they do not go barefoot to school, “because it is not fair”.

“This year we launched this program, which also opens an opportunity for many companies to do social work … and most importantly of all, the shoes will be made by artisans in each community, thus generating employment … bringing economic stability to the family,” she explained.

Rosa Elena Lobo called upon the local business community to participate in this activity and sponsor the production of shoes, anywhere in the country. It provides an opportunity to put shoes on a million and half children.

“We all win here; the state can not solve all the needs of the people…” she said.

The President of ASOLUSH, Francisco Godoy, expressed his satisfaction at being received at the Presidential House, and for providing the opportunity for children to go to school with shoes for their uniforms.

“It’s the first time in the 34 years of existence of our association, that we stand in the Government House. It is a pleasure, and we have great pride to be at this opening of the program and greatly appreciate the First Lady and President Porfirio Lobo Sosa for this gesture, which will remain etched in our hearts,” he said.
