Producer Jorge Lobo expressed, “We could not imagine that this cold front would give us so many problems, especially in corn, palm oil and rice.”
Lobo believes that the government should declare a State of Emergency because of the loss of more than 500 million pounds of rice that was going to come out on the market between January and February.
The rice was ready to harvest, which could have earned farmers more than 200 million lempiras.
