Killers Pose as Police

Tegucigalpa (Honduras), March 3 (IANS)

At least eight people have been killed when a group of attackers dressed in police uniform opened fire on them at a billiard parlour in northern Honduras, the police said. The incident occurred Sunday night in a popular billiard parlour in San Pedro Sula, about 400 km east of the capital Tegucigalpa, a police inspector told reporters, EFE news agency reported Monday.

Between four and six attackers came in a black vehicle similar to that used by the police and opened fire on the people at the parlour.

More than six people were injured in the attack, the police official said, adding that the motive behind the crime was not immediately known.

The incident comes eleven days after a man killed eight members of his adopted family in Tegucigalpa.

Honduras has one of the highest murder rates in Latin America.
