Lobo Heads to Dominican Republic

Honduras president-elect Porfirio Lobo and several ex presidential candidates traveled to the Dominican Republic today to discuss the country’s political crisis with president Leonel Fernandez.

A Lobo spokesman confirmed that former candidates in the November 29th elections, Elvin Santos, of the ruling Liberal party, the Christian Democrat Felicito Avila, and the Social Democrat Bernardo Martinez, as well as Tegucigalpa mayor Ricardo Alvarez, boarded a private flight from Tegucigalpa, where they are expected to return today.

“We’ve been in permanent communication, mainly with president Leonel Fernandez of the Dominican Republic, whom despite the crisis which their sister nation of Haiti faces (from the recent earthquake), has been very attentive to Honduras” said Lobo.

He said the Dominican leader “has been very collaborative with us, looking for us to exist peacefully with the international community.”

We should seize the moment and throw Zelaya in jail, right now when he does not have any of his regular backers in Honduras.

    Hey, one can dream.
