Micheletti Applauds the Honduran Military

Interim President Roberto Micheletti said during his speech at the promotion ceremony of the Armed Forces, that Honduras is a sovereign country that deserves the respect of the international community, and praised the work of the Honduran army in defense of democracy.

“This is a special day for the country and the history of Honduras. An important moment that symbolizes the spirit and tenacity of Hondurans to professionalize the role of its military force,” said Micheletti.

The interim leader recalled that the removal of Manuel Zelaya from the presidency of Honduras rescued the people from “authoritarianism and social anarchy” and that they had “the will and support the people.”

“This event will be noted in history as the beginning of a new era of Honduran political life,” he said.

He also emphasized that “now the whole world knows that we are people with dignity, and above all, people with great courage and tenacity who choose to live in democracy. The role of the armed forces has been instrumental in this achievement. They have also been, and are worthy representatives of our people.”

Micheletti lamented the death of retired Gen. Julian Aristides Gonzalez, Director of Counter-Narcotics, who was shot by gunmen on Tuesday.

The President called upon “the world’s nations to respect this small country, we do not have money, we have no oil here, but we have dignity in each Honduran,” for which he received an ovation.

“I ask you to respect us, we demand that they respect us. We are a sovereign people.”

For his part, Minister of the Presidency, Rafael Pineda Ponce, deplored the interference of Costa Rica and Panama to demand the resignation of Micheletti.

“Neither the UN nor the OAS, or any organization has the power to sit as judge on Honduras, and ask us to do this or that, or even suggest, because this is a sovereign State, it has its Constitution, it has its laws, we have our institutions and authorities,” said Pineda.

He reported that there are already proposals from people that might form the National Unity government, but that the resignation of Micheletti had not been contemplated Micheletti, having been appointed by Congress on behalf of the people of Honduras to complete the presidential term from this period.

Hoo-ray for Honduras. Congratulations to all the good people of Honduras. You stood up to all the nay-sayers and corrupt governments and upheld the rule of law and your constitution. You deserve better from the truely democratic nations. You have waited out the pusilanimous administration of Barrack Hussein Obama and his inept advisors.
You will be a beacon of light in Central America and the whole world where dark forces attempt to wrest control of neighboring governments from their fredom loving people.
Go! Honduras! Celebrate your freedom! What a wonderful present just in time for Christmas!

And well deserved that praise it is.

The Honduran Military, Police and other security forces did an splendid job making sure that our laws were respected and our citizens protected, many people, like Mr. Barahona, will not like to admit this, but there are countries that are ruled by the type of government he would like to see rulling Honduras that would have killed thousands of people in a similar situation, so the armed forces of Honduras deserve that applause and more.

It must be difficult for a man with a rifle be insulted and attacked and not use that rifle, many people simply do no stop to contemplate the effort it tokk to maintain a position that will earn the Honduran people world respect.

This is not over yet, we as Hondurans need to keep up the good work that Mr. Micheletti started for us, Honduras has to have its name cleared, the accusations were false, but many.
