Peaceful Demonstration for Land Expropriation

March in San Pedro SulaTuesday morning, the citizens of San Pedro Sula met with demonstrations causing traffic jams in the center and south of the city.

Early in the morning, members of the Confederación Nacional de Federaciones y Patronatos de Honduras, “CONAFEPH” (National Confederation of Federations and Patrons of Honduras) marched peacefully along Third Avenue to the San Pedro Sula Central Park, demanding the Government comply with the expropriation of land to provide settlements for the homeless.

During the June 19th Council of Ministers meeting, an Executive Decree was adopted authorizing the expropriation of land in La Lima, San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, Choloma, Potreríos and Comayaguela because it was deemed necessary for the public in order to create 30 colonies and settlements.
