Police Crackdown on Terrorists

A full arsenal, destined for attacks in cities across Honduras, was seized by police at a home in the neighborhood of Las Mercedes in the city of El Progreso.

The raided house is owned by Mrs. Teresa Garcia. Arrested during the raid was Otto Garcia, 30, his brother Omar Garcia, 28, both sons of the property owner.  Miguel Alvarenga, 48, and Hans Diego Pape, 20, were also arrested. Police investigating the case said that the Garcia family is of Nicaraguan origin and could be linked to recent attacks in various parts of the country.

Jaime Antonio Flores Mejia, head of the Police Department of Yoro, said they were investigating the relationship of the detainees to the attacks at the municipality of El Progreso and the National Party headquarters.

“We fully identified others who participated in these criminal acts that occurred over the weekend in this city, we are investigating how those caught in these acts relate,” the official said.

He added that this finding should give peace of mind to people who are preparing to participate in general elections on Sunday, as they believe these are the groups who have been launching boycott explosives and threatening the event.

Among the seized arsenal, police found an SKS 223 caliber rifle, which uses the ammunition of AK-47s, with scope that measures meter, temperature and air speed.  This is the latest in technology used by snipers. 9mm pistols, bullets of different calibers, military police guides on how to explode bombs, and a combination of other material to manufacture and prepare explosives also were discovered.

Radios, computers, video cameras and photos, the latter of which had several images of the key points of the Friendship Bridge over the Ulua River, making the authorities assume that that was one target to be destroyed this week ahead of elections.

“Thank God we have broken up a plan of action that would do great harm to the economy and delay to the vote, which was the destruction of the only way to San Pedro Sula” he said.

Police continue raids in different areas where they have information that more arms and ammunition are located. The police and military presence in different parts of the city aroused the curiosity of Progreso citizens, as it is unusual for such a deployment. After the discovery of weapons and photos, surveillance on bridges and in particular La Amistad, have been redoubled.

Again, the Police Force of Honduras deserves a round of aplause, in many other countries this could have been a very bloody mess, but our forces have been behaving properly for all the duration, and that is very commendable.

As for this revolutionaries wannabes who support that dictator wannabe, get out of Honduras already, we do not want what you have to oofer, and we will show you our displeasure with your insistance.

In other ways, we may start killing you before you kill us.

and I would bet also linked to z’liar…. 🙁

But it is very good that these criminals were arrested before they could carry out their plans and injure or kill somebody.

Only 4 more days until the free elections of the Honduras people.
