President of Taipei to Visit Next Week

Ma will leave Taiwan June 29th to visit three Central America allies — Panama, Nicaragua and Honduras.

Ma will meet with President Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales upon his arrival in Honduras July 4th.   President Ma was concerned there could be a scheduling conflict for Zelaya, as he is still on an overseas visit.

Zelaya promised that he will return to Tegucigalpa before July 3rd, but Ma decided instead,  he will stay in Panama July 1st – 3rd,  and return to his country July 8th.

The main purpose of the trip is to attend Panamanian President-elect Ricardo Martinelli’s inauguration on July 1st in Panama City.

Ma will be accompanied by first lady Chow Mei-ling.  He will bring with him some 129 persons, consisting of  legislators, government officials, industry and academic representatives, charity organization executives, as well as noted local entertainers.
