Protest in San Pedro Sula

Dozens of demonstrators protested peacefully before the offices of the Organization of American States (OAS) to show their desire to keep the Constitution of the Republic as it currently stands.

The demonstrators carried white t-shirts to symbolize peace and democracy, and signs demanding respect for the Constitution.

The political leader, Armida de Lopez Contreras, declared that “we have prepared ourselves to come to the offices of the OAS, to reiterate to president Manuel Zelaya, that we want peace in the country, and are all under an obligation to maintain peace and democracy without disrespect to our laws. We are in Tegucigalpa, since we were prohibited to protest in front of the Arab Club in San Pedro Sula, where the General Assembly of the OAS is meeting. “

Lopez commented that when forming the Alliance he never imagined that thousands of people, the majority women, were voluntarily going to accept his call for democracy.
