Rains Expected in Afternoon and Evening

Rainfall and electrical activity are expected in Honduras today due to a tropical disturbance located in the northern Gulf of Honduras.

The phenomenon, which moves northwestward away from the coasts of Honduras, has the possibility of becoming the second tropical depression of the season in the Atlantic in the next 24 hours, according to Oscar Zelaya, the forecaster on duty.

Rainfall is expected to concentrate mainly in the south, southeast, central, western and northwestern areas of Honduras, due to moisture from the Pacific. In the capital of Tegucigalpa, and its surroundings areas, there are presently partial clouds, rain and scattered showers.

The hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean (which began June 1st and ends on November 30th), is anticipated to be one of the most active, with the forecast for some 23 tropical storms, of which at least seven they expect to become hurricanes.
