Roatan Tourist “Not a Suspect”

“Officially she is not a suspect . . . but her role is part of the investigation,” said Ricardo Castro. Castro was called in from the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa to investigate the case on the island of Roatan.

On Sept. 18th, Krissy and her husband Dallas were out celebrating their first wedding anniversary on the island of Roatan in Honduras. The couple had moved to the island in July and were set to adopt a baby named Will. The incident was described as a robbery, hooded gunmen approached the couple, and Dallas was shot and killed when he tried to put himself between the assailants and Krissy.

District attorney Wendy Rodriguez had told The StarPhoenix on Tuesday that Martens’ involvement in the crime was being probed. On Wednesday, Castro said statements by Rodriguez about the case were based on “rumor” and made “irresponsibly.”

On Wednesday morning, Krissy Martens told News Talk 650’s John Gormley that the district attorney’s suspicions was the first she’d heard of any accusation against her.
“There’s no truth behind that story,” Martens said, later referring to the accusations as a “malicious lie.” She has not been arrested, detained, or questioned, she said, and authorities have told her she is free to come and go from Honduras if she pleases, Martens told the radio program.

Six people are currently facing murder charges in connection to the shooting and they are expected to appear in court Thursday when the prosecutors will present their evidence against them. Castro said authorities have also recovered the murder weapon. More information will come after Thursday’s court hearing, he said.

“Tomorrow, when those people appear, there will be more on the investigation,” he said.
