Maldonado explained that the company has not paid their “Rights of Protection”, which covers the fee for the control tower to monitor and guide pilots through the final approach of their flight. All airlines pay this fee, but TACA has faulted since 2003.
TACA has been sent letters, been issued citations, and such, in accordance with the administrative law of procedure for civil aeronautics, all to no avail.
TACA was given 72 hours to respond to the last request, but officials stated they would be obligated to suspend TACA’s flights Monday at noon if they have not made payment.

I feel that they should of handled the situation a complete different way. They shouldn’t have cancelled the flights and not aware the passengers about the situation. Why are they taking action after so many years of TACA not paying them their dues. I have my mother over there right now visiting her family and she has no idea both TACA and the civil aeronautics should have approach this professionally. I’m highly upset. And both parties need to communicate better than just cancel flights and not let anyone know!!!! I
Personally I never had the experience to fly TACA I herd lots of negative things about the airline my concern is what other airline will soon stop flying to Honduras . It ‘s so sad that we only have one little small plain to go to the Bay Islands
only God knows what’s next.
im happy to see them go….and to think i was looking into booking a flight with them again ugh!! i prefer to have no choice then to have them as a choice…..
I cannot say that I am sorry to see TACA fold, but, you can’t do wrong and get by. TACA has done much wrong to many people over the years. They have destroyed many other airlines that tried to compete with them. God sit high and looks low.
No sympathy at all.
