Tropical Depression Matthew Passes on to Belize

Honduras has endured Tropical Storm Matthew and come out relatively unscathed. All airports in Honduras are operating as normal. The Ulúa and Chamelecón rivers levels are high, but being watched closely.

A large portion of the road between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula is damaged. The local internet company on the Bay Island of Utila’s internet signal is out, due to damage sustained by a high wave, but signals from other providers there are working.

COPECO reiterates that warnings are still in effect, as rains will continue for some time. “As of last night there are no reported deaths or disappearances, but we had reports of damage in seven departments. 404 people have been evacuated, and 768 are in shelters throughout the country, ” COPECO spokesperson, Corina Mejia reported.
