A friend of Bengtson’s was driving the car from San Pedro Sula to La Ceiba on Sunday morning near the town of San Juan Pueblo. Inside were the driver, Bengtson, and his girlfriend. The vehicle lost traction on a rainslicked highway and went off the road into a shallow ravine.

Bengtson had just returned from China, where he tested with the team “Chongqin Lifan”.

The player’s injuries are not severe and he is out of danger, but still receiving care at the D’Antoni Hospital in La Ceiba. His girlfriend; however, was hurt much worse, suffering broken legs, arms, and a broken hip. Her condition is serious.
