Weather Alert in Choluteca

COPECO declared a 72 hour green alert in the communities of Cedeno and Guapinol from Marcovia, Choluteca. The alert was due to a swell coming from the Pacific Ocean towards the pacific Coast of Central America that will produce a swell on the waves of nine feet above normal.

Copeco informed that if we associate the conditions of high tide that will be registering during the next hours to this event, we can expect possible water penetration into land. Due to this, Copeco has insisted to the population living near the coast to stay updated with the analysis from the National Meteorological Service (SMN), especially those who intend to visit the beaches, and fishing boats working in that area.

In case of emergencies, anyone can report any type of incident to the Copeco emergency phone line 229-0606, extension 133.

In Tegucigalpa, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) decided to close down the Toncontin International Airport for a few hours due to weather storms.

The arrival and departures of flights where canceled because there was no visibility from 8,000 meters and the clouds where less than 1,500 meters high.
