Zelaya Not Meeting in Dominican Today

Dominican President Leonel Fernandez told reporters he expected Zelaya and President-elect Porfirio Lobo to meet in Santo Domingo on Monday to talk about ways for resolving the political crisis.

Information minister, Rene Zepeda, however, said the interim government had not received a petition from Zelaya , nor from officials in the Dominican Republic asking that Zelaya be granted safe passage to leave the country.

Lobo, who says he wants to start a national reconciliation process once he takes office, and that he supports granting amnesty both to Zelaya and to all of those involved in the coup.

He does not have that power, however, nor will he be able to grant amnesty even after he takes office. That power belongs to Congress.

Come on Pepe, we know that you must know that animal, Zelaya from when back then, attending some of those ‘FUR’ meetings that ended granting you a scholarship at that infamous Russian (read Soviet) University, the one and only, Patricio Lumumba, be cool Pepe, we all have that romantic streak and want to change the world when we are young, but by now you should be able to tell that they really mean business and were willing to destroy our beautiful country of Honduras.

Do not forget that the worst act of Zelaya was the betrayal of public trust.

Respect that people that gave you he oportunity to do something good for them,

Zelaya should never get amnesty for his crimes against his country. I don’t think the United States
or any of the other countries that keep trying to interfere with Hounduras law would give an ousted President in their country amnesty. President elect PePe Lobo needs to understand that to excuse Zelaya’s behavior is setting a dangerous pattern for the future. Zelaya’s crimes should be frequently listed and broadcasted and he should stand trial as an example of how serious the charges against him are. This would also set a pattern for any in the future who might consider following his footsteps. A Constitution is the “Law of the Land” and should be followed at all cost. This is the reason Zelaya should be prosecuted on all charges and any money he stole from the the government and country be
returned. President Michelletti understands this and is protecting and trying to maintain law and order under extreme pressure and circumstances. We can only hope President elect will reconsider his position on this and hold Zelaya reponsible and accountable for his actions while he was president.
