Zelaya Two Months at Embassy

As of Saturday, Manuel Zelaya Rosales has been a guest of the Brazilian embassy for two months.

A close associate of Zelaya, accompanying him at the Brazilian embassy, said, “The president is well and strong in his struggle to defend democracy.”  “The president has not resigned his struggle to return to power and continues to demand the departure of the coup,” he added.

The same source said that less than 20 people now accompany Zelaya.  They are surrounded by soldiers and policemen guarding the embassy, and have strict rules about registering the few people who can enter.

The day Zelaya arrived at the Brazilian embassy, he had with him some 67 people, and soon afterward, about 300 others arrived, causing overcrowding. For various reasons, including a request from the Brazilian Embassy, most of the companions of Zelaya, fans, journalists, friends and family, have been leaving.
