Zelaya Will Not Honor the Accord

“The accord is dead,” Zelaya told Radio Globo from from the Brazilian Embassy. “There is no sense in deceiving Hondurans.”

Forged last week with the help of U.S. diplomats, the pact gave both sides until midnight yesterday to install the government with both supporters of Zelaya and Roberto Micheletti.

Jorge Reina, a negotiator for Zelaya, said today that the pact fell apart because Congress failed to vote on whether to reinstate the deposed president before the deadline for forming the unity government.

The pact did not require Zelaya’s return to the presidency. It left the decision up to Congress. Zelaya interpreted that to mean that Congress had to vote on the issue by Thursday.

Supporters of Micheletti, disputed that, saying the pact required that members of the unity Cabinet be in place by Thursday, but that there was no deadline for Congress to meet.

“The de facto regime has failed to live up to the promise that, by this date, the national government would be installed. And by law, it should be presided by the president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya,” Reina said.

Shortly before midnight, Micheletti announced that a unity government had been created, even though Zelaya had not submitted his own list of members. Micheletti said the new government was composed of candidates proposed by political parties and civic groups. He did not name the new members.

“Everybody, with the exception of Mr. Zelaya, recommended Hondurans to lead the institutions of our country as part of the new government,” Micheletti said.

He said the unity government “is representative of a large ideological and political spectrum in our country and complies strictly with the agreement” brokered last week.

    Oh poor baby,
zelaya did not get what he wanted and is now angry!!!!

What a joke, this traitor really has lost it, or is playing to make believe.

Probably he is afraid that if he stops making noise Chavez will come after him.

Is really ridiculous how much he loved this deal when it looked as if Congress was willing to reinstate him, when he later found out that it was merely a way for other people to save face, he feels the right to get offended.
How stupid can you be Zelaya?
For this is the same Congress that voted to get you out earlier, and the one that later on swore Michletti in.

As ‘gonow’ says, he only would have been happy if it went his way.

zelaya, it is about time you understand, we do not want that type of Government.

I can only hope that others are watching, and realize that we will do the same with whomever tries to do the same, regardless of how popular they can be now.

It is very laudable that Congress kept its word, they got him out once, and they kept him out.

To all the people of Honduras I say this:

Now we have to get ready, here come the ones that have been preparing to launch a violent offensive against democracy, and that will try to impose their will over us by recurring to violence.

Lets meet them with as much force, if not more, as what they use.

They are a bunch of cowards and some fanatics.

Maybe the fanatics want to offer their life in sacrifice, but it wont be many.

Make the ‘Human Rights Organization’ aware that we are dedicated, fully, to protect the rights of the law abiding citizens first and foremost, meanwhile the vandals, here, as well as in many countries, will loose rights as they break the law, it is the common way to proceede in civilized countries, there is no way that those who do not respect the rule of law and order will retain the same rights than those who make an effort to live within the frame of the law.

Honduras, still free, and still showing the world that the “Bad Ones” do not always win.

We have become the sign of hope for people that live opressed under the yoke of Socialism impossed on them after their Democratically elected leaders turned on them, the clear sign, like a hughe waving flag, freedom can be yours if you really want it.

    Fight for it.

    Honduras Still Free!!!

Z’liar shows one more time his unwillingness to follow rules. If he does no abide by a signed pact before the international community, what can we expect he is going to do if he is reinstated as president? He just wants to stay in power and go ahead with his Castro-Chavista agenda. How much proof does the international community want or need to prove that this Z’liar man can not be trusted.

mellie ….but you did not say before hand you …only stick with the deal if it goes in your favor……

  8. miraclemant  November 6, 2009 at 9:29 am

I hope the Congress goes ahead and casts it’s vote to deny z’liar be re-instated.

Maybe then z’liar and the world will shut up and leave Honduras to it’s own internal affairs.
