The Government of Honduras and the Organization of American States (OAS) formally began the MACCIH support mission.

“This is a very common problem and I think that people who commit the crime of corruption and flee the country will have to be extradited,” said Jimenez, during a press conference after the installation of the Maccih.

He stressed that it is important that Honduran judges and prosecutors are aware of international law regarding extradition “because there we have work to do.”

“I want to let it be known that I worked hard during the Fujimori and Montesinos strongly (in Peru) in the system against corruption and worked in the capture and extradition against Fujimori in Chile,” stated the Peruvian Attorney.

On September 22, 2007 Alberto Fujimori was extradited from Santiago de Chile and immediately transferred by helicopter to the headquarters of the Directorate of Special Operations in Peru.
